Opening Lines

‘People and Food’ were so important to our clients!

Since they loved their home and the neighbourhood, it was obvious that they needed to renovate. This home received a Finalist Nomination for the 2023 Georgie Housing Awards for it’s category.

In particular, the kitchen needed ‘renewal’ to be functional.

We removed the wall between the kitchen and dining area, pulled back the wall to the hallway and removed the closet at the back.

This structural work brought fantastic results –

A full-height wall pantry that holds an integrated fridge/freezer, wall ovens, appliance counter, and pantry.

A slatted wall to the hallway which provides openness, yet still divides the space.

By opening the kitchen wall, we were able to move the peninsula island forward which increased and improved the kitchen working space. The new white, flat-panel upper cabinets are ceiling-height and have a recessed hoodfan. The lowers are rift cut white oak with a wire-brushed veneer and gorgeous, seamless custom handles. The countertops are ‘Blizzard’ quartz and there’s an outstanding textured backsplash tile.

The peninsula seats 3, has an extra wide countertop, and a magic corner pull-out in the corner. The same backsplash tile is installed on the bottom of peninsula (at your feet). Above the peninsula there’s are clever underlit, wood shelves suspended with brass metal rods. There’s built-in bench seating in the eating nook, with storage underneath.

Such a fantastic kitchen to be in….our clients are thrilled!
