A classic kitchen for today’s contemporary lifestyle!

Our clients, a busy family loved their home and neighbourhood, but their kitchen needed considerable updating. We retained the overall layout but improved its efficiency and modernized the appearance. The old textured stepped ceiling was replaced with a modern flat, painted ceiling. This gave us the opportunity to add a surround sound system into both the kitchen and family room ceilings. The plumbing remained in same location but was totally upgraded.

Reconfiguring the space, included removing the seldom-used phone desk. This achieved a ‘much needed’ pantry with plenty of convenient storage and handy to the kitchen work triangle. They wanted a warm-toned kitchen – there are classic shaker-style cabinets in rich-coloured maple. Stainless appliances and a stainless-steel chimney style hood fan complement the look! The cabinets extend to the ceiling for additional storage. Our clients wanted mostly drawers in the lower cabinets, while the upper cabinets feature glass-front doors and a unique open-corner for display! 

The new island is much more functional, plus the waterfall edge counter detail presents as a showpiece!

The addition of a matching stained ‘barn door’ to the hallway provides excellent access to the hall, while buffering sound to the bedrooms.

We maximized floor space by adding a nook, which has banquette seating and drawers underneath for added storage. We also improved the transition to their outdoor living from kitchen by replacing the patio glass slider with double French doors. Beautiful warm-toned, radiant heated, engineered hardwood replaces the old linoleum, tile, and carpet.
